Do you have a friend, or family member who you can talk to about this? I had a really bad spot about 3 years ago that I thought would be the end of me. But it wasn't, it was the end of a chapter and a learning experience. Things can get better, you can feel better about yourself and not have to have this pretense with your friends. It may be tough for awhile, but it will get better. You can do this because you are an awesome person. Look at what you are doing! You have a job, a roof over your head and family and friends who care. You can do this. Sounds like you really need to talk to someone.
